FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Court transcription
What is the difference between a certified court transcript and a general transcript?
A certified court transcript is produced from an official court recording and includes the certification required by Ontario standards. A general transcript -- for a meeting, interview or other recording -- is not a court document and carries a signed Certificate of Accuracy instead of a court certification.
How are court transcript fees set?
Rates are set by Ontario Regulation 94/14 and depend on the requested turnaround and format. The regulation governs if this website's summary ever differs from the current consolidated version.
What if the proceeding has a publication ban or access restriction?
Let Amber know when you order. A publication ban is separate from an access restriction, and both may apply. Amber will confirm what approval, if any, is required before a transcript can be produced or released.
General transcription
What is the difference between verbatim and clean non-verbatim?
Verbatim keeps every filler word, repetition and false start exactly as spoken. Clean non-verbatim removes those while preserving the meaning -- it does not summarize or rewrite what was said.
Do you offer hard copies?
Yes, at $0.20 per printed page plus the actual cost of postage or courier. Hard copies are sent by tracked delivery with signature required, and are dispatched only after payment in full.
Notary services
What should I bring to a notary appointment?
Bring the complete document and valid government-issued identification. If a document needs to be witnessed, sworn or affirmed, do not sign it in advance.
Ordering and payment
How do deposits work?
General transcription projects require a 50% deposit before work begins, with the balance due before delivery. Court transcript fees follow the regulated schedule.
